Lesion
Hot glass and industrial graining beads, blown by Louis Thompson
This piece suggests the flow of signals from each eye traveling along the optic nerve, crossing and dividing at the optic chiasm before re-assembly in the visual cortex at the back of the brain. When this line is broken, information is lost: clinicians call this a ‘lesion’. Two large blown tubes loop together to suggest the optic nerves - but one is breached in the middle and open at both ends so that the imprinted beads representing signals from the eye escape.
