16.09.2013 - Crystal Symmetries at the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford

An installation of glass and print in the entrance gallery of the Museum of the History of Science in Oxford, inspired by the remarkable symmetrical patterns in X-ray crystallography

The X-ray crystallographer Professor Brian Sutton of King’s College London and I will lead a drop-in session for all ages at the Museum between 2 and 4pm on Saturday 5th of October.

Visitors will be invited to experiment with tiling patterns and learn about types of symmetry for themselves. I will also explain the process that I have developed to encapsulate structures inside hot glass forms.
